Draw generator

Teams

• Teams of 3 fighters: 1 senpo, 2 chuken, 3 taisho.
• Each team has a fixed fighting order, set on the Teams step. A fighter can be changed for a single match in its scoresheet.
• A dojo can enter as many teams as it likes. They're lettered A, B, C, … (e.g. Wakaba A, Wakaba B) unless renamed.

Players

• An individual competition: each match is one bout between two players.
• Players are entered by dojo on the Players step, as many as a dojo likes. One left unnamed is shown as e.g. Wakaba 1, Wakaba 2.

Pools Off · knockout only

• Pools can be turned off under Format; every team then goes straight into the knockout tree.
• Pools of 3. If the number of teams doesn't divide by 3, one pool of 4 or of 2 (or two of them) takes the rest; you choose which.
• Everyone in a pool fights everyone else. Order and colours in a pool of 3: 1 (red) v 2 (white), 2 (white) v 3 (red), 1 (white) v 3 (red). Pools of 4: 1–2, 3–4, 1–3, 2–4, 1–4, 2–3, with everyone red and white at least once.
• The top 2 of each pool go through to the knockout (set under Format).
• Pools are split between Shiaijo A and Shiaijo B.
• Each pool fight has its own scoresheet: open a pool's fights from its card. A pool fight that's level on bouts and ippons is a draw; there's no daihyosen in pool fights.
• Pool places come from the pool scoresheets once all of a pool's fights are decided: most fights won, then most bouts won, then most ippons. A drawn fight isn't a win.
• If teams are still level, pick their places by hand in the tree. Any pool place can be changed by hand there; a place that differs from the scoresheets is marked ⚠.

The draw

• Teams from the same dojo are never in the same pool if it can be avoided, and start in opposite halves of the tree, so if they both win their pools they can only meet in the final.
• Otherwise teams are placed at random; each re-draw is a new random draw.

Knockout tree

• A pool's 1st place stays on its own half of the tree; 2nd place crosses to the other half.
• Shiaijo A runs its half of the tree, Shiaijo B the other half; the final is between the two halves' winners.
• The final is fought on Shiaijo A, after A's last match, unless it's marked live on Shiaijo B.
• If the tree has gaps, byes go to pool winners first.
• In each match the top team fights as red (aka), the bottom as white (shiro).
• There is no 3rd-place match.

Each bout

• Sanbon shobu: the first fighter to score 2 ippon wins.
• Valid ippon: men (M), kote (K), do (D), tsuki (T). The first ippon of a bout is circled.
• If time runs out 1–0, the fighter ahead wins.
• If time runs out level (0–0 or 1–1), the bout is hikiwake (a draw). There is no encho in team bouts.
• Every second hansoku (▲) gives the opponent an ippon, shown as H. Hansoku are counted per bout.
• Hantei: when the shinpan decide a bout that's level on points, press “Hantei” on the winner's side. It's a win with no ippon; it can be recorded on any bout, daihyosen, but not once someone is ahead on points.

Winning a team match

1. The team that wins more bouts wins.
2. If bouts won are level, the team with more ippon (H included) wins — even when the bouts finished as an overall draw, e.g. 1 win, 1 loss, 1 hikiwake each. A bout won by hantei counts as a win but adds no ippon.
3. If bouts and ippon are both level, a daihyosen decides it (knockout matches only; in a pool it's a draw).

Daihyosen

• Each team picks one of its 3 fighters, from any position.
• Ippon shobu: the first ippon wins. No hikiwake; it goes on until someone scores, so it has no time limit.
• Two hansoku give the opponent the winning ippon.

Encho

• When a knockout bout is level at time, the same two players fight on: ippon shobu, the first ippon wins.
• No hikiwake; it goes on until someone scores, so it has no time limit.
• Two hansoku in encho give the opponent the winning ippon.

Shinpan

• Each match has 3 shinpan: a shushin, who is always a senior, and 2 fukushin.
• A pool keeps the same three shinpan for all of its fights; they change between pools and for every knockout match.
• Each category has its own shinpan: a list for each shiaijo it's fought on, senior or junior. Another category's lists can be copied in on the Shinpan step.
• The final takes its shinpan from both lists.
• Shinpan are rotated so everyone referees about the same number of matches, the shushin role is shared among the seniors, and nobody referees two matches in a row when there are enough shinpan.
• For the rotation, each shiaijo fights its pools one after another (Pool A's fights, then Pool B's, …), then its knockout matches in number order.

On the day

• Tick each team present on the Teams step as they arrive, or press “Everyone is present”.
• Once anyone is ticked, every team not ticked counts as absent and loses each of its fights by fusen-gachi: the other side wins every bout 2–0. If both are absent, nobody wins.
• An absent team never takes a pool place, so the next one up goes through instead. Ticking them present again puts everything back.
